P90X: Week 7 Recap

Going to start recapping my weeks in this format:

Monday (May 21): P90X: Day 43: Chest, Shoulders and Triceps & Ab Ripper X:
On this day I was starting to feel kind of frustrated due to lack of weight loss I was experiencing , even though I am seeing results otherwise. I decided to bring it during this work out like I had yet to do... I decided to forgo the 12-16 reps with lighter weights like the woman in the video do, and go for the 8-10 reps with heavy weights like the men. I've recently decided that I would rather be slightly heavier (weight wise) while being strong and fit (and girly muscular). The end result: I did chest, shoulder and triceps with 10's, and mainly 15's. I did one triceps move with a 20lb dumb bell. I even paused the video after every push-up set to knock out additional reps. Even with being on my knee's I did 127 push ups tonight!! Again, I am using push-up bar (except on clap/plyo push-ups) to get deep into my push ups.

Tuesday (May 22): P90X: Day 44: Plyometrics X:
I killed Plyometrics this day..  I jumped higher, and faster.  I only modified 4 of the 23 (including bonus) exercises.  Not bad considering Day 2 when I modified damn near everything. I still have a long way to go to in terms of being able to jump higher, and faster, but it is improving.  My heart rate isn't skyrocketing as fast either, and it quicker to slow down.

Wednesday (May 23): P90X: Day 45: P90X: Day 45: Back and Biceps & Ab Ripper X
First time lifting heavy during Back and Biceps. I did one exercise with 10lb weights, two with 20lbs, and all the rest with 15lbs.  My arms were jelly afterwards, and even today I my biceps are still slightly sore.  I love lifting heavy! I think I found my niche.  Starting to see improvement in Ab Ripper (finally!)...   I was able to do all 25 Fifter Scissors, slightly modified (I can not fully extend my legs or bring them all the way up... only about 3/4 of the way) but my Abs were on fire! I was able to do all of the Hip Rocks and Raises both times this week, and most of the Oblique V-Ups..  I have a problem of starting to laugh when Tony starts saying "The knee is making contact elbow thigh!"   I still CAN NOT do Crunchy Frogs... my goals is to them by the end of my SECOND round.

Thursday (May 24): P90X: Day 46: Kenpo X
We swapped out Yoga X for Kenpo X for the last time today...   We both have had problems, due to flexibility, while doing Yoga in the beginning.  We noticed while doing the stretching sequence for Kenpo X that we are becoming more flexible, so we will add Yoga X back in... no excuses.   I really love love love Kenpo X!! I think it is a wonderful and fun workout!  (Sword Hammer... Claw Pull Punch)!!

Friday (May 25): P90X: Day 47: FIRST & ONLY MISSED WORK OUT (Should have been Legs and Back & Ab Ripper X)
This day was payday, and we went food shopping after Sam got off work. So, we originally skipped Legs and Back and Ab Ripper X with the intention of using this day as our rest day (instead of our Sunday rest day), doing LB & ARX Saturday, and Kenpo X Sunday.  I have a toe on my left foot that has been hurting like mad since Tuesday, and last night there were two huge blood blisters under the nail, and one blister on the cuticle. The toe was really swollen, and the nail is looking bad so I will probably lose the nail itself. I did pop the blisters last night (yes, bad I know) put neosporin on it, and put band aids on it.

Saturday (May 26): P90X: Day 48: Insanity Pure Cardio instead of Kenpo X
Like I wrote above, we skipped Legs and Back last night with the intention to make it up tonight (and Kenpo Sunday), but my toe still looked pretty gross today, and is sore as hell. I figure some of the leg exercises wouldn't be the best for it, and missing ONE workout the entire 90 days isn't going to kill me. And as much as I love Kenpo X I couldn't do it again so close to the last time I did it (Thursday), and I don't really care for Cardio X.
So, I told Sam I wanted to try out Insanity: Pure Cardio. Now that was a crazy workout and it was very intense, a lot of high impact exercises. There is no way that I could have done that at all 8 weeks ago. Now, some of the stuff I still slightly modified due to my knee, and my toe... but I gave it my all... and it was worth it!! Other then during the stretching portions my heart rate never dropped below 155... most of the time it was 165-175.  I think I can give it a little more each time that I do it, and see how the knee takes it. I will definitely do this video again soon, and possibly the whole program after my 2nd round of P90X. Or perhaps a hybrid of P90X/Insanity.  Sam, who hates cardio and didn't want to try Insanity, actually enjoyed it...  after we were done!

Walking:
I have managed to hit my 10k+ steps (via my Fitbit) each night this week with the exception of tonight (8k steps) since I took it easy today.  I got 5 walks in this week and did a total of 14.83 miles.  This week I will shoot for 15 miles.

Side Notes:
Week 8 will be our second recovery week during this round, and I look forward to seeing how much we've improved on Yoga X.  Next weekend we will take our 60 day pictures and measurement and move into our final Phase of Round 1.

Bought me a new scale today: the Fitbit Aria which I have been wanting (to go along with my Fitbit).  I tried it tonight testing it out, and it is showing a nice % of Body Fat lost since starting in February.

That is all for now..  will post again this time next week with out Week 8 and our Phase 2 information!

P90X: Round One: Phase One: The First 30 Days

I have always heard that P90X is hard, and it is.. especially when you are overweight.  The first week I was so sore I could barely move..  yet every night I would press play because I knew that it is time to get this weight off.

Every week during the first 4 weeks and even now in Week 7 I see awesome improvements, not just in my body, but big time in my fitness, and endurance levels!!  So much that I start off adding an hour of walking in 3 days a week, and I would shoot for about a mile.   Now, as of today, I walk at least 5 days a week for an hour averaging about 3.5 miles during that time, sometimes 4.  I even jog some of it now too, when the knee feels up to it, and I don't get that out of breath anymore either! This is all on top of the 6 days a week that I do P90X. And the fact with summer here I hike on the weekends.

I remember the first week doing Plyometircs X.. I had to do all the modified moves in the video and I still almost keeled over and died. I started off using 3lb and 5lb weight during the weight training videos.  The first time do Chest and Back I could only do 75 half-assed knee push-ups, and I was jelly afterwards.

This week: (Week 7) I did 4 of the moves modified (due to the knee) and everything else is unmodified in Plyo and got my highest calorie burn yet of 570 calories in an hour (I wear a HRM). I now use 10lb, 15lb, twice I used 20lb on all of the upper body strength training.   I also knocked out 127 push-ups on Monday (Chest, Shoulders, and Tricpes), still on my knees, but I use push-up bars now, so I go extra deep. Plus, I can actually do clap/plyo push-ups.

The first phase was a success: if you look in my albums you can it for yourself in my Before and 30 day pictures.  Next weekend we get to take our 60 day pictures.

Phase One Results:
**I lost 6lbs, 3" off my waist, 3" off my hips, 2" off my chest and .5" off each of my calves. My neck, and arms stayed the same, and I gained .5" in each thigh.**

Since February 15, 2012  I have lost 19.5 lbs, 8" off my waist, 5" off my hips, 2" off each thigh, 2" off each arm, 1" off my neck, 3" off my chest, .5' off each calf.

I went from wearing a size 24W jeans (which I was only in for a week) down to a comfy size 16.  I am currently 191.2 pounds but I am wearing the clothes and undergarments I wore pre-hysterectomy when I weighed 183-184.  My fitness level is far better then pre-hysterectomy as well.
